17 deg is about the coldest I've ridden in. The secret is in layers. 17 degrees at 0'Dark:30 then 80 degrees at 1:00pm and 3000 ft elevation change.

With my cold weather gear that I bought this year, the only time I wouldn't ride is if there is snow or ice on the ground. Too squirrely.

Up here in Canada... when the ice freezes you in so that you can't get out the igloo door... it's too cold. Y'all knew we lived in igloos up here didn't ya'?
That's when we break out the dogsleds...
Other than that... I'd say 35

What do you consider too cold? It takes me about an hour to get to work.
Whatever you're comfortable with and have the gear for. I used to ride year round, as long as there wasn't snow or ice on the streets. 40's is pretty mild, as far as cold goes. A couple layers under your leather jacket, long johns under your jeans, warm gloves, FF helmet, boots, you're good to go.

You guys are way behind the times. Here in Oregon we get out the covered wagon.
