Default Syn3

I know this has been asked 10,000 times. I don't feel like searching all day for an answer. Is SYN3 a full synthetic or a mix? I asked 2 people at my local dealer and one said it was full and the other said it was a semi??? Thanks.

Is SYN3 a full-synthetic or a semi-synthetic oil?

SYN3 is a full synthetic lubricant. It is the general practice in the oil industry that a true synthetic is formulated with Group IV PAO basestocks and is a true synthetic. [Top]

Regardless, I switched to Mobil 1.

Syn3 is a GroupIII hydrofinished synthetic motor oil. It has very little if any PAO basestock. Mobil1Vtwin, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Spectro are all GroupIV PAO based synthetics. Redline is a GroupV POE based synthetic.

ALL of these oils are very very good. Go for the best price IMO as you will notice little if any difference in the performance of any of these. They will all outperform dino oil easily.

It is a fully synthetic oil. As you know from the oil threads all synthetics are not equal.

Full Syn. I ran it & switched to Mobil 1 in the primary/engine. Is there a difference I can feel? Nope. I got a good buy on Mobil 1 V twin.

Hmmm...OK.

I just asked about this in the Sportster forum and the answer I got is that it is only partially synthetic.

Chavez is another issue.

LOL

I'm not a motorcycle newb by any means, but I've only been riding a Harley for about a year.

But the oil thing is somethnig I never paid too much attention to. On my old Triumph, if you wanted to "change the oil," you just rode it 100 miles and poured more in
