Good question ... just bought the bike (2007 1200C SPORTSTER) a couple weeks ago & only had 1,200 miles on it (I have put 600 from last Friday to today).

Thanks for all of the comments / suggestions !!

It's probably overkill but I change mine when it gets dirty.

That's really interesting. I tend to think we change oil way too often and waste money. Having some hard data certainly helps to make an informed decision versus following a preset schedule.

Using Mobil 1 V Twin change every 5000. Mobil 1 in Primary change at 10,000 or once a year. Mobil 1 75w90 in tranny, change at 10,000 or once a year.

change engine oil at 5,000 miles just like in the service manual schedule. 5,000 for primary and 10,000 transmission. I use HD Syn3 in all 3 holes. If you change it sooner thats great also I guess. Do it yourself and save!

Any way to post your report? Always been interested but never seen a report like that. I got 10K coming up. Had the dealer put Syn3 in @ 5K. I'm gonna try a switch to Amszoil, based on what I'm reading on the Forums. Thanx!
