There is no premium high octain gas in the Big Bend area of Florida. For that matter, not much gas at all. There are some stations with regular grade (87 octaine). Does anyone have any experiance with octain boosters added to regular grade gas. Need answer quick before this weekend run to the coast.
Or just put in the 87 octane and see what happens. There's been instances I've had to put 89 octane in mine and there was absolutely no difference whatsoever.
I have use several different ones, mostly when I have gotten bad or weak gas, most work good, but keep in mind you get what you pay for. I typically look for ones that also have a top end lubricant in them. I have never had to fill up with 87 octane and try to make up the difference with the booster, I have added 1 ounce to my 5 gallon tank to settle any pinging, and I know that too much will cause problems with your spark plug (don't ask how I know). I keep a bottle of booster in my travel bag and a shot glass just in case.
No race tracks, no race fuel. But, we do have an airport with aviation fuel. I believe that is high octane. You think they would give me four gal. The situation is crimping my style! I'm feeling the need to ride. This is un-American.
I had no problem filling with premium today in Punta Gorda,FL. Does your manual say to use premium? My manual says to use it for my 103" engine. I've wondered if it would make a difference if I put in lower octane.

Just ride! Don't worry about the gas octane! I've run 87 through 93 in all my bikes (2 carb, 1 FI) and never noticed a difference in either mileage, performance, or pinging/knocking.
Thanks for the support. My daughter played for the Noles '93-'97. She was the first female base drum player for the Big Eight. We may be unranked this year but the team is looking good.
