THE MOST IMPORTANT thing I learned was the "press"..........

you''ll be able to practice that after you graduate.......

just get out there and ride slow and careful at first, preferably around the neighborhood.

Good Luck, you'll be fine.

Does not matter how big and strong you are there are still a lot of ways for inexperienced riders to drop a bike. I would take it easy and stay alert, avoid having to brake sharp and get use to using the back brake to help slow maneuvers. Be careful with uneven or gravel surfaces and even doing the simple things (e.g. making sure the side stand is fully extended when you park up). The great thing about Harleys is that you don't have to go fast to have fun and the standard power delivery is predictable and steady (unlike super sports bikes where new riders hit the throttle too hard and end up in a hedge). I think if you are careful and ride with some confidence you quickly get use to the size and power of any bike. Enjoy your ride.

Figures it would be on a forum about Harleys! Just my luck!

You'll be fine. Take it easy untill you're comfortable on it.

Beat me to the pouch on this one

I am 2"5' and 68lbs. I can ride two Heritage bikes at the same time, you shouldn't have any worries.

hey Nick you're a big boy, get on and ride. If your Grandpa gave it to you I'm guessing he thought you could handle it. If you are young, try to ride with your head and not your *****.

No.... Ride the bike your going to ride. I too, took a course that started out with 250 Shirpa, I was encouraged to bring my bike to the road course and I'm glad I did. My Deluxe is my bike. Why would I want to spend the cash to learn to ride a 250? I've taken my course on my Deluxe and I'll take my road test on it too. It's my bike and I want to learn to ride it like it's an extension of my ***.
