I have both the lidsafe and the stuffsafe80l. The lidsafe is great for securing my Arai Vector and Garmin Zumo to the bike when stopping for a bite to eat. When riding two-up, or needing to secure all my riding gear to the bike, I use the stuffsafe80l. Both are a wonderful product.

I made my own out of plastic coated cable and a real small lock. I lock the helmet on to my sissy bar. It wouldn't take much to defeat it, but it keeps dirt-bags from just being able to pick up the helmet and walk away.

I just use a small padlock thru the d-rings and around the sissy bar. $5, works great.

Nope - I just run the helmet strap under the leather strap on the top of my saddlebag and then through the D-rings and cinch it up. This way some mope can't just pick it up and walk away. It would take some effort. If they want it that bad so be it, I'll plunk down another 40 bucks for a new one.
I see many riders just place their helmets on the seat or even on the ground underneath the bike. The bike I parked next to at the Foo Fighters concert during the 105th had two brandy new lookin' H-D helmets just sitting on the grass under/next to their bike. That suprised me a little because those puppies are like 150 bucks each (or more.)

I use something like this:

I can't find the exact one I got, but this is the same idea. They don't cost that much, and I can just carry it in my pocket. Anyone with heavy duty wire cutters could still take the helmet, but this at least takes care of somebody that just decided to grab it on a whim.
If I'm on a road trip and have the saddlebags on, then I carry a heavy duty cable bike lock.
