As a quick aside to the easterners ... chaps is pronounced "SHAPS" not chaps like chapstick or chaps my a$$. Now I'm going back to the tech forums where there is a chance for me to learn something worthwhile. You folks play nice here in the General chat, ya hear?

I'm not sure but I think after the H.D group bought the company back from AMF, Willie G was made head of the design dept or something like that and a couple of things he did was design the skull and #1 logo to give harley a new, more radical image to set them apart from the old AMF ones.
Anyway, I think that's how it went,

It's only pronounced "Shaps" if your missing more than three of your teeth!
I'd didn't know it was a "Willie G" skull collection till I read this thread and googled it. I can believe Willie G came up with that crap, though. It is about as tacky as his wardrobe.
I agree. The only thing more tacky is fishtail mufflers. Those things are really stupid looking.

Now we go back to derailing this thread about the virtue of fingerless gloves. I like em because I can pick the dry boogers out of my nose on long rides, and also push the buttons in my stereo. That, my friends, is a winning series of events on a long ride, and important. Plus you can pull over and take a leak without pulling your gloves off.
