I have a 98 with 25,000 miles and a 03 with 48,000 miles and they don't use enough oil between my oil changes to matter. I go 2500 miles and my oil level makes no noticeable change.
I broke in my 2008 road king w/103" engine in June and didn't use any oil. Check your primary fluid level. I had a rear seal go out in my 96 wide glide and lost a quart of oil on a 3000 mi trip. I added a quart the day before the end of the ride and when I went to change the fluids (a weak or so after the trip) and get the bike ready for the winter, I opened the primary cover and had a river of oil pouring out.
I was wondering where the oil was going to while I was on the road, had no smoke and only a slighty oily jiffy stand each time I stopped for gas.
The did a leakdown test and found no problems, but when viewing the plugs, the rear plug was carboned up and had oil on it.
The pulled the heads and say the saw some oil around the valve seals. Not sure what this means,
I'll have to get an explanation when the service tech returns on Monday.
The are also going to do the Campaign to replace all gaskets on the heads.

That works out to 3 quarts in 1680 miles. I've got 70K and use barely a quart in 2500 miles. You're using way too much. Watch it, write it down, track it, and make sure your dealer makes a note of it officially. Then if it doesn't get better after "break in" period, which is really 500 miles, but for your sake, 2500.... I'd be raising some loud noises with the MOCO for some serious adjustments. Like pulling that motor apart and seeing what's going on. That's even more than the party line qt per 1000 is OK. IT"S NOT!!! Watch it, and let us know what happens...
2008 FXDSE 110" with 840 miles. I have used 1 1/2 quarts
No way no how is that right and for what you paid for a screaming eagle dyna you better pound on there door cause you should not use enough oil to matter between oil changes if the motor and bike is right. You have problems like others said. I just changed my oil agian today 2007 Dyna superglide custom 16 months old 23,000 miles and i have never had to add oil and i change mine every 3 to 4,000.
