Go for it! life is too short. They say when we look back on our lives. we will regret the things we didnt do more than the things we have done. You want a touring bike and can afford it... go for it.

Note also that he mentioned the 'ol lady put the 'bug in his ear.' I love my Super Glide dearly; however, if my wife suggested I trade it for a new Touring model, she wouldn't have to ask twice!

I like cruisers also, but love the basics of a Dyna. Luckily I do have the option of borrowing an E-Glide, but I have never took him up on it. He asked our opinion, and I simply gave it.

Theres just ONE caution I would put out on the EG standard.

Make SURE you are ok with the polished engine covers and silver motor. Especially the polished covers. It gets really spendy really quick if you decided you really wanted chrome after the fact. Go look at one side by side with bikes that have the black motors and chrome covers. The polished ones look pretty good, until you see them next to the chrome versions. Im not dissing the standard at all. But like I said, Ive seen a LOT of "wish I would have thought about that more" stories.

If your ok with that, and ok without having a stereo, the Standard is a great value. But I've seen a LOT of guys who regretted the decision once the polished covers started to dull up a bit, and they ALL do, unless your out in the garage polishing all the time, and even then they never will look as nice as the chrome. Likewise, adding a stereo AFTER the fact costs more than most people would think, even if you go aftermarket.

Granted, both are issues that wont affect the riding of the bike. But I suggest giving it some thought beforehand.

If you like the EG and you have the money I say go for it, especially if you are planning to be on the bike for long rides.

Dude, you dropped a lot of cash getting a Dyna to look and and perform like a touring model... God bless your deep pockets.

Go for it and welcome to the Dark Side of touring. Also I would agree that you will be more happy with V&H pipes then the SE ones. Of course i am biased.

I've been married 30 years-let me interpret what your woman is saying.......BUY A TOURING BIKE! Thats how women communicate, vague sometimes but she is telling you. I've learned that much in 30 years about them. Make it happen for the little woman.

Good luck with your decision. Riding to Sturgis from Cali in '07, I got a detachable wind screen and it's perfect to be able to pop on and off and it help for the cold days too.

One thing that I really like on my Sturgis ride was listening to music but had to use ipod and earbuds. I kept thinking how great it would be to have speakers on the bike. Then, with all the new changes to the new bike I started thinking about the street glide. 6 speed trans, cable-less throttle, new frame, ability to shut down back piston in heavy traffic (I live in LA). ...and you can get a detachable top case with nice comfy back rest for your wife.

Good luck. Either way, you'll have a 2-wheeler!!
