Who here has financed through HD? Are there rates compareable to say banks or credit unions? My credit union has car loan rates set at 60 month for 4.75%. I am asking them now if that is the same for bikes. I checked other credit unions and they have actual motorcycle loan rates for the same duration set at around 7 - 10%.
HD financial is almost always higher then then Credit unions. Because they are dealer, they get the first chance to make the loan and let the lower rates go to the banks/cu. The lowest HD will go I think is 6.9%. They offered promo rates of 1.05% and 3.9% last year, but I think they are done with those.
I financed my FLHRS for 4.5, 60 months. No special offer. I think it depends on your credit rating. Of course it probably helped that I put 1/2 down in cash.
Don't much think it is "credit rating" as it is credit score. Rating is basically financial factors and how well you have paid your bills in the past. Score takes in how many creit cards you have plus all the other factors. Doesn't matter whether you owe anything, just that you have them and therefore more debt potential. As for dealerships, mine found me a better rate than HD Finance this last time, a little higher than a bank or cu but I didn't have to deal with all the bs of finding my own source. Since the loan won't run the full length the rate really won't matter in the long run. If there is a little extra money it goes on the bike. Just MO
