Road Hazards - Elk
The weather warmed up enough for a day ride on my motorcycle in the Arkansas Ozarks the Saturday after Thanksgiving, though it was a bit misty at times. As I was riding through Boxley Valley near the Buffalo River I rounded a curve to find a elk herd crossing the road. Not something you see every day in these parts. Fortunately, I had my camera in my tank bag so I just hit the kill switch where I was and snapped a few pictures. Glad I went for the ride rather than sitting around watching football.

I do believe those elk could screw up the front end of a stout bike. I'd sure hate to hit one, even on my redneck Bubba truck!!! There's a few of those things scattered around the NC mountains too. Nice to look at - great pics....

I didn't know of elk herds running around Arkansas. I've heard there are a few seen here and there in MO, but you really found one heck of a bull and his harem. Great shots, too. How would you like to have one of those antlers aimed at you?

Glad I only have to worry about a few whitetails and the occasional racoon. Great pics!
