......... EFI I live in the mountains at 1,800ft

Stay Closer to Home in the Winter.........
Sorry, but I just gotta pull your chain a little.....1,800ft. mtns? Thats a speed bump where I live (9,750ft) and go up from there.....
Just some friendly razzin........
Thirty years I swore by carbs. A pocket full of jets and you could tune it as you go. Had to get EFI on my Deluxe, hell it even had a gas guage. Spoiled now, and don't think I'd ever go back.
Haven't owned an EFI bike yet but I put a Mikuni 42mm on my Night Train seven years ago and never had to adjust anything. Runs perfect. Runs alot better than the stock CV carb. Had an S&S carb on my old Evo and it never gave me any problems either. I'd like to stick with the carbs but my next bike will for sure be fuel injected since I always buy new.
Nothing beats pushing the button and having it fire right up!
No doubt and my carbed Sportster does just that. It even has better fuel range and mileage than the EFI 1200 too. It doesn't require a lap top to adjust and $3.00 jets are a piece of cake to change.
Once an efi is dialed in correctly they are great, until you make any changes pipes etc. I still do miss the sound of all my carb bikes esp. 78 and 85 my sporties!
I prefer carbs on my bikes. I don't think EFI is a bad thing at all, but if I ever have a major problem with my EFI, I WILL put a carb on it.
On an off-road truck, however, EFI is the ONLY way to go.
compare the schematics of a carb then of a EFI system then make a decision.
Schematics are like pictures in that one may appeal to the eye better than the other. However, if EFI is so great, why do they still keep the door closed in racing? Keep the EFI and give me my carb....

No the schematics will tell that there are too many parts needed to run the EFI and if one breaks its over. Carb=block of aluminum with drilled holes. Simple. Better. 2 of my 3 bikes have EFI. My '83 has S&S super E. Always been a carb guy. Like someone else mentioned first time EFI pukes out I will have carb installed. Just wondering where it'll leave me stranded.
