I was in the same situation at the beginning of the summer. I bought the carbon fiber helmet....its awesome! www.carbonfiberhelmets.com BTW, I also wear a full face.
Buy the carbon fiber....just my 2 cents.

+1 Pay the extra money for the carbon fiber if you decide to wear a 1/2 helmet. You will be glad you did. (anti-mushroom look)

Ive had the same 1/2 lid from when Ronald Reagan was President.
It has never hit the pavement yet. Cant say the same for me.
It was one of the easy muchroom style. A die grinder and a few hours, and it fits real custom around my mellon.
