I've been reading that the 09's are supposed to be ok. Heard the earlier 110's have been blowing out the head gasket on the rear cylinder from heat. A friend of mine had his '08 SE RK fixed at the dealer and say everythings been fine ever since.
Harley supposedly came out with a new head gasket. Anyway thats what I've heard and read. Good luck....

Just read an article in a recent issue of American Iron magazine that said the same thing. It does good on the hi-way but the heat from rinding around town causes the rear cylinder to blow out. They suggested that in addition to the new head gasket, you can get the download that will shut the rear cylinder off when you are at idle. You can have dealer do that or you can get an aftermarket ECM programmer(like a Power commander or a Fulepak) and do it yourself.
I don't have the mag in front of me now, but I know it was a recent issue. Might we worth looking into a bit more.
donny petersen devotes 70 pages (an entire chapter) to the 110 specifically. I would get a copy of his latest "Unauthorized Technical Guide to Harley Davidson 1936 to Present vol. II: Performancing the Twin Cam." It is a very interesting read.
Have the 110 in the Ultra. Moco recalled theh heads, didn't have any prob with the old one but they put new ones on anyways. Do it ! FYI the 110 motors are made by JIMS actually as far as I know all the SE motor upgrades are manufactured by Jims and sold through the moco as SE
110's are definitely not manufactured by Jims. In house HD built at their engine plant. Yes a lot of 110's have not experienced problems, but a lot have. HD did not start a program spending millions of dollars for repeated repair and subsequent call-back for no reason. Yes maybe, they have solved some of the issues with this engine, and then again time will tell. Still recommend you get the extended warranty. IMHO
