I found some very cool etching services offered on the net. Wondered if anyone here has ever gotten their windshield etched. Seems that other than decals which are nice but seem so common to me, nobody does much to decorate this part of a cycle.
Several of the etchers on the net will take whatever photograph or drawing you provide and create the etching from it. Sounds great to me, but choosing the photo is the hardest part--so many possibilities. By the way, one price I received for an etched and sandblasted photo was $175 (I send the shield to him and he sends it back for that price) and I consider this quite reasonable for the service rendered.
Actually yes I did mine and it came out great. I installed a three pouch bag on my dash and where it rubbed it made marks that looked like sheet. So I took it off and used blue masking tape and taped off the window on both sides that I didnt want etched. Hint make sure surface is clean! so tape edges will stick. I then put it in my sandblast cabinet and blasted both sides with glass bead. Looks great and it 'smoked' the area where the bag is so you cant see it. I should take some pictures .....
