Honda chopper?
Why does it have to be "if they can't afford a Harley?" Did you ever consider they may not want a Harley? I didn't buy my Sportster because it was a Harley, I bought it because it was a Sportster and Harley happened to be the manufacturer. I didn't buy my Roadstar because I couldn't afford a Softail, I bought it because in so many ways it was a better bike. If I were buying a touring model there is only one Harley I would be looking at and this is the Road Glide but it dang sure wouldn't be one with a TC96 in it. Rather, I would be looking for one with a TC88 I could take out to 95 inches. Not everyone wants a Harley and justifiably so.
What's the matter with you? Everybody aspires to own a Harley and everything else is just something they use to mark time until they can afford a 'real' motorcycle. The quote at the top of this page proves that.
Now doesn't that sound silly? But it is the attitude of some people that really don't have a clue why some of us ride motorcycles. It is not my intention to demean or degrade anyone for their opinion, although it is sad that some people don't offer me the same courtesy, but there is a whole world out there beyond Harley. Open up your minds and experience it, or at least offer those of us that do a little respect.
Ths thread has somehow lost sight of the point of the first post. A mere comment of approval made towards a Honda Fury and some people react as if someone had called their mother a dirty name. They are only motorcycles.
Do aficionados of decades old technology fear progress. I quess it is true that I don't have a clue. Riding to me, for several decades and hundreds of thousands of miles, has never been about the 'sound', 'look', or 'being seen'. And if I offend people that value those things more then the 'actual' riding I apologize. In my favor, don't people stop and think that if there were enough people concerned with such aspects, Harley would produce motorcycles with 50 year old technology?
But putting aside the fact that it is made by Honda, the Fury is a good looking bike. And the technical aspects are nice also. Or does anybody wish their cars still had hand cranks, etc.?
But it is really sort of sad, BT riders think Sportsters are girls bikes. Some people equate the sound a bike makes as being indicatative of it's value. And, this should really stir the pot, some people think that anyone that doesn't fall in lockstep with people worshipping at the altar of Harley 'don't get it'. Some of us 'get' that people have different tastes and priorities and don't feel the need to demean anybody that feels differently then others.

.....this is a Harley forum full of Harley owners and loyalists. You act surprised when folks on here bash Hondas
This is nothin' new. Been goin' on for generations and will continue as long as Harley keeps puttin' out these fine machines. You don't like 1950's technology or performance, then go buy a Fury, join the metric forums, and tell them how antiquated and inferior our HD's are. Now if we went over to the Honda forum and started bashing...that's another story. But don't be surprised or offended when you see the metric hate over here at the HD forums. Just sayin'.

Most surprising in this thread is the dissing of old Harley iron. Fortunately there are many, many thousands of us dedicated to enjoying the old bikes. Each one of the oldies is matched up pretty much one to one with a loving owner. Those bikes will probably outlive us all.
