I have read a lot on here about Gerbing's products and that seems like the way to go if considering heated gear. Most of what I have read seems to talk about the heated jacket liners and not the outerwear. Apart from looking like a BMW rider or Goldwinger are there any issues with their outerwear?
I want to try to ride year around ( when no snow or ice) but here in Kansas it can get pretty cold for a spurts. It seems like the heated gear would make it a little easier to take the colder temps on this aging body.
I have both the Jacket Liner and the Gloves. Sometimes the leather jacket can be a little bulky over the jacket, so I got a HD lighter weight jacket to wear over it. You need to wear something over the jacket or the vest to keep the heat in. I would think that heated outerwear would lose a lot of heat from the wind while you are riding.
Just got the Sweetie a jacket for Valentines Day. Harley Owners are easy to buy for.
I'm sure they would not sell it if it was not up to par, call them and ask questions, they are very customer friendly, the warranty is good as I had a chance to find out.I have the heated gloves and insoles, man are they nice,my biggest problems were with my feet getting cold and my hands.
I've got the Gerbing "Union Ridge" jacket and pants. I don't give a ***** if I look like a Beamer rider, I'm warm even on 25 degree days and nothing is needed over the jacket, hell it's 200 denier nylon, air does not penetrate it.
I have the liners pants, jacket and gloves. They work great but I sometimes think the outerwear would be easier. If your just riding and have no plans to go inside on your ride there great. The outerwear would be a lot easier if you had to stop and go inside or you rode to work. The liners are a little harder to deal with and you have to wear a little looser clothes than you might normally wear. But no matter which you buy they are great.
Thanks Trock! I will be using it mostly to get back and forth to work with the occasional long pleasure ride. I think I will definitely go with the outerwear.
Thanks again all.

I have the union ridge pants.... bought them from the outlet search and you'll find the links. I paid about the same for my pants as I would have a pair of chaps (well a good pair, you could buy crap, for less) I'm warm, and I stay warm... and the "boys" are warm too.
I saw a pair of union ridge, that survived a wreck... they were worn and battered, but they kept the rider in one piece.
I like "looking like a BMW or a Goldwing rider".... because I'm out there riding. Whether the leather clad assless chap wearing guy, who just stepped out of his pick up truck likes it, I couldn't care
I got the Union Ridge too it rocks!!!
I had the jacket liner 1st but I got tried of dealing with the bulk.
As far as looking cool goes I gave that up after high school.
