How does belonging to a motorcycle club create respect? How does wearing a patch create respect?
Especially towards people who may be criminals?
Well you go on out there and tell that 1% what you really think about him and see where that gets you.. I wear a 3 piece patch out in there world.. I certainly do not condone or take part in some of the things that go on within the 1% groups.. And my way of showing my respect is by making sure that there business is never our business ever!.. We are polite and respectful any time we cross paths with them, and they then show us the same..
I have been on both sides of this.. You go try it your way..

Golly gee-whiz, I didn't realize that riding a Harley was such a complex social issue. I kinda figured maybe just wearing a t-shirt and just being myself was good enough.
I think the overriding theme here is respect. I will give you mine until YOU prove you are not worthy of it. Doesn't matter what you wear or what you ride, or even if you ride. Do I have patches on my vest or jackets hell yes. I have either 1. earned the right to wear them 2. Had them given to me by a friend or 3. Wear them as a tribute to someone or something Some change most don't. Some represent things that helped get me to where I am now in life Others are merely statements of who I am. And I actually do like that person Thought I would include a photo or two for good measure. BTW I am looking for a Lowrider patch like the sporty one.

Reason: forgot something
as long as you are not wearing a three piece you got off ebay or starting an MC without permission no one cares what you have on your back....its just a personal thing then, that most bikers will laugh about when you walk by...

Excuse me, i'm not a criminal. My last brush with the law was a speeding ticket in 1986. I'm sure when the feds probably pulled my records recently they naturally assumed i was a very smart drug dealing, gun running, murderous criminal "gang member" who just hasn't been caught yet. When we see those imitation club patches we just snicker to ouselves and go on.
Now why am i being called a "hangaround" on this forum? Whoever came up with these cute little designations apparently didn't understand that club members who earned patches by working thier butts off don't like being called a prospect or hangaround by an internet biker forum.
I have a back patch I am adding to my Levi Jacket. It is a patch a couple of us had made in Iraq. We are the VooDoo Medics and I am going to wear it. F*** what others think, we have earned our patch and it does mean something to us. If you want to wear it, wear it. With respect comes respect, no one will bother you as long as you don't bother them.
