It was his choice. Maybe he felt like he has been riding long enough that he has seen it all and done it all. He does have a new kid coming soon. They say it happens to fighter pilots too. They start out in the fastest badest fighter made. They get married and move to cargo planes and after they have a kid they are flying the bombers up in the ozone. Responsibility can make a man do strange things.
I waited until my kids were out of the house. Doubled my AD&D insurance and talked the wife into riding two up. All within 5 months. It does sound like you are a good friend though, hang with him. He might need to borrow your bike.

My 1st wife of 19 years was a controller, although never as far as to try and make me sell a bike or anything that dear to me. Much smarter (so far....LOL) on # 2! Feel for your loss and his..........just not right. As others have said he will need you more then ever soon.

The ladies on here are going to flame me for this, but a wife needs to be trained early on.

I was between bikes when I got married. The next spring I came home with a small motorcycle and my wife got very upset, packed her bags and headed out the door. I smiled and held the door open for her. She returned about a hour later. The next year in the spring when I got the bike out she made a comment that I looked silly on a small bike. I'm 6'3" and was 220 then. On my birthday a week later as I was singing happy birthday to me and opened the garage door to show her my middle weight bike. She got a little upset. After a few years, she never even reacted when I got a new bike.

Now, many years latter the only thing she has said is why do I need four bikes. I explained the different types of rides any why I have them.

We have been married over 43 years now and she has adjusted to my habits.

You got to hand it to him though; he is willing to make a sacrifice for the wife & kid (weather right or wrong in your mind) There are a lot of guys out there that would dump’em just to ride. I had a buddy like that once, I supported him and his decision, and we lost touch for about 15 years. After that he moved back without the wife, we now ride all the time and are still friends.

Hopefully for ALL of us BUT peshally the 'kid', he ends up with the kid. I DO NOT wanna even think 'bout how the kid will turn out, with a lieing B*TCH like that.

Jus' hang out in the shadows, Coastie. Sounds like the 'light' will come on, and when it does, he'll be dammd glad when he sees you and the wifey, standing there, buds.
