I would definitely dyno tune the bike. I had my dealer compare the dyno numbers before and after the bike had been dyno. I gained like 3 HP and 4 ft. lbs. more torque. Why spend all that money and not tune it?
2nd that, its a no brainer. You want to make sure your motor is running at its peak potential. Why spend all the $$$$$$$$$, and not get out of it what you already paid for. 3 or 5 hp. or tq. to me is a BIG DEAL ide say. Nothing better than knowing when your going down the highway, and you crack it. That baby's gonna fly, with no issues.
I am not a big fan of Stage 1 dyno tune waste of money. The tuner needs to know what they are doing in the first place and in most cases (dealer dyno) will put you backwards than forward on a tune.
If you have extra money you want to get rid of send it to me,I will put it to good use.All this performance stuff for Harleys is for folks with more dollars than cents(sense)
getting a dyno tune on a harley is a lot like dyno tuning a honda civic. is one or two hp really worth the extra money on a bike that can't corner, brake, or accelerate worth a crap? honestly??
LOL ! A man who may have actually ridden another brand of motorcycle
Gotta call EXCEPTION for the Street Rod and XR1200.
Well, I was gonna dyno tune after installing pipes and a/c. Then I started talking to different tuners around the country. I finally decided that I would purchase the PC-V from Jamie at Fuelmoto and see how the bikes ran. My wife has a 2004 Heritage softtail with HQ-0034G cams, pipes and a/c. I have a 2007 RG with pipes and a/c. I emailed and talked with Jamie a couple of times before I made my decision.
One reason for not dyno tuning my bike now is that I plan to add HQ cams sometime this year. If I dyno tune now, I would have to dyno tune again when adding the cams. If the bike runs better with the PC-V then I can save $300+ by only doing one dyno tune. If my wife's bike run cooler and better with the PC-V then she will be happy without ever spending the money on the dyno tune.
Since we did not have any type of tuner to begin with we have not lost any money by buying the PC-V. To dyno tune we would have to purchase something and the least expensive would have been the Direct Link key. The PC-V is costing us about $50 bucks more than the Direct link key but we will have something that can be moved to another bike and not have to spend more money down the road. I hope.
I am not into dyno contest and I am not sure I would ever notice the difference 3-7 hp or ft/lbs of torque would make. Especially if I am spending 100 bucks per hp.
