I have 2 pr of FXR snowmobiling jackets and bibs and with just jeans and a t-shirt on I sweat if the temp is over 10* out and if its 20-30 below and Iam working I sweat..The FXR is good stuff.Might need to look into thier riding gear now...
I have a really nice textile Buell jacket that I bought when I had my Buell. That thing is an awesome jacket. Has all that kevlar reinforcement and padding and such. Nothing gets throught that thing. I just can't get myself to wear it while riding my Fat Boy though, just doesn't seem right! I know for sure I'm gonna get the textile riding pants, they could serve as all weather riding pants and get you through anything you might come across.
As for warm weather, I know my Buell jacket has three removeable layers and it was vented like crazy! You could wear that thing in below zero weather all the way to 100 degree and be comfy.
It can't get too warm for me to not wear protective gear. Last summer I was at Arches NP in 105 degree heat and I was wearing a mesh jacket and pants with a FF helmet. You actually stay cooler when covered from the sun. Why do you think all the Arabs cover their entire bodies in the desert?
As far as protective clothing goes, professional racers would probably wear synthetic fabrics if they provided the same or better crash protection. Leather still wins in that department. I guess you have to weigh out the difference in protection from the cold or protection from the road. It's a personal choice.

The FXRG "midweight leather" jacket is definitely loaded with all the right features.
*Seriously* considering one. (Some good deals on eBay for new ones.)
But, the leather seems too light for my liking. And I'd rather get one in suit sizes rather than S/M/L/XL sizes. Also considering a Fox Creek. Had a Schott and loved that leather, but would have liked vents.
