I have progressive and had my check within 7 days. The adjuster spent about 4hrs assesing the damage and replaced anything that even I needed glasses to see. I'm sorry your adjuster didn't do you right.
My insurance is with State Farm, my provider for all of my other insurance. They were less expensive than progressive and offered better coverage. I have not used the insurance on the bike and hope never to need it, but in a situation with another company on a truck I had that was hit while parked and totalled, I simply refused the amount they offered and counter offered and they agreed. Don't go down without a fight. By the way the insurance company wanted the truck since it was totalled and I refused that too. I put new exhaust on it(it was completely knocked off) and drove it as it was for 2 more years. I had only had the truck 6 months and I got back the money I paid for it from the insurance company and kept driving it.I seriously doubt you will need an attourney.

Then when you're done, find a different insurance company because they'll screw you over eventually.

When they pay for it, THEY own it. If they gave you the vehicle it was because they were feeling generous, not because you REFUSED to give it to them!! Next thing you'll say they continued to insure it. Because you demanded it!
I've never heard of a generous insurance company, and it was the other guy's insurance, not mine. The Truck cost me $1400 from my Father In Law and I had it 6 months and had a bill of sale proving what I paid for it. It was a gift at that price because it was a pristine '78 Ford XLT. My insurance was liability only. Trust me you may not get everything you want, but you should be able to get the cost of repairs at the HD Dealership, less your deductible.

You can cash the check, it is not a final settlement. That is most likely an "Actual Cash Value" payment. Ask for a copy of the estimate that the payment was based upon.
As a 1st Party insured, cashing the check does not waive your right to claim further costs incurred for the repairs.
Sorry to hear. Progressive had a check for me 7 days after my accident then 2 more within 24 hours after confirmationn of additional damage not found originally.
Same hit & run scenario.
Sounds like a serious glitch somewhere. Did you have estimate done at dealer from day 1?
Alot of adjusters know how to adjust car claims but much fewer know bikes.
Good luck. Sounds like you are owed additional funds.
Most policies do not cover extras unless they are expressly covered in writing with proof of purchase. Also Progressive is not as good with bikes. Most of the adjusters are car people. Have the dealer do an estimate and have the adjuster there when they do it.
I have progressive and love them. Got the rear end took off one bike and had another with 3,000 damage. got fixed fast and all I paid was my $500 deductable and that was probley cancelled out because better parts were put on. You might have a sorry agent?
