Rider down
Sorry about your bro Firehawk...I was in that same position almost exactly to the yr - 5/5/05...some idiot pulled a u-turn RIGHT infront of my bro and he t-boned them in the side. Worst feeling in the world - I was rushing home to grab my scoot to go for a Cinco de Mayo ride - I call his cell and SOMEONE else answers...tells me he just picked up this "kid's" cell phone off the street who wiped out on a m/c.
I race back to Astoria, by now my bro is gone in an ambulance and the cops are still there. Approach them, show them my NYPD courtesy shield and SBA card, ask about the rider and what happened. Then I ask about the azzhole in the car, and LO N BEHOLD, he's standing on the sidewalk w/ a MAJOR attitude about his piece of sh*t 15 yr old honda civic...Hears me asking the cops about him...."who am I calling an azzhole"....so i politely tell jerkoff the guy he nearly killed was my bro, and if he doesn't shut the f**k up, he's gonna get beat w/ a helmet. Well, he's dumb as well as a lousy driver, doesn't shut up, and I end up bitch slapping him (yes I showed MAJOR restraint) and bouncing his head off the building. Now the cops get out, yell at me to back off and handcuff HIM - disorderly conduct. Gotta luv that. They call for a wrecker to p/u the ride and have it taken bak to bro's house about 1/2 mile away. Both cops were blue knights.

Anyway, he did well....spent a few days in the hospital, had some internal bleeding, but didn't lose anything and 10 days later we was in Indiana picking up a bike he bought off Ebay and riding it home. Nuts.
Give your brother my best wishes for a speedy recovery, and I hope he gets back in the saddle soon. But good luck dealing w/ mom on the hazards of riding. We still hear about it but then, thats what Moms do.
I'm sure he'll be back in the saddle soon. Yeah Mom's tough, but I'm 46 and my brother is 45 and she can't scare us anymore! (She can't read this and I'll swear you are lying if you tell her!)
Thanks guys! I'll pass the wishes and the suggestions
on.
OldFart brings up a good point.... PLEASE tell us the @$$hat that nailed him actually got a ticket or SOMETHING... At LEAST that he stuck around.

just got through talking to him. My info was incorrect. It was in city traffic and he was in the left lane and the guy came from the right. One of those signal while changing lanes things. Didn't look before he came over and my brother was not in his blind spot, he was just about even with his door. He said he could see the guys signal come on in his periphical vision and his only choice was to lock up his breaks and try to get out of his way. He didn't quite make it.
He said he could hear the guy talking tothe cops afterward and he said the guy said he didn't see him.
His V-Star was paid off and is covered under insurance so he will get what the bike is worth if it is totalled. But he says he just needs to heal up and he'll be back inthe saddle on his touring bike.
Thanks guys! I'll pass the wishes and the suggestions
on.

Will add your bro to the prayer list for a speedy recovery.
Hearing the details it sounds like what happened to me this past Christmas morning except I was on the freeway.
If these cagers would just stop relying on their d@mn mirrors and actually look over their shoulders, a lot of these types of accidents could be eliminated.
Take care and look out for the 4 wheeled knuckleheads everybody!

I was just pushed out of my lane yesterday at 75 mph on a 8 lane divided interestate.
Guy started coming over on me. He made it about 3 feet into my lane. He didn't hear my classic oval slip on's which really makes me want to switch out to Rhinhardts.
Tell you bro that even if he stays with the vstar he needs to add some cobra slip ons or something to louden that thing up.
Best of luck to the bro.
