first long ride

First long ride of the year today, 172 miles and my butt is sore. Suppose to be nice again tomorrow. Does this happen to anyone else the first of the riding season?

It may take you awhile to get your butt "toughened up" for a season of riding. If it doesn't get better, look for a new saddle.

I'm lucky. Living in Tucson we don't have seasons. It's always riding time.

At the beginning of each season, it happens to me also. I usually just start out with short runs to toughen up my butt, than I gradually make them longer. Sometimes, I just go for it and worry about it when I get home. Either way, the ride is worth the sore butt.

The first day seems to be the worst for me....rode to Amarillo Thurs 350 miles and back on Friday. I was pretty good for 90-120 miles before stopping for a break...I'm a skinny guy with no padding and no special seat.....I get used to it. The second day always seems easier to me....be sure to take breaks and its alot easier on the backside!
