Default HD liquid cooled V-4 Nova Engine.

I am not sure if this topic has been discussed before. I have been seeing more and more talk of the possibility of the resurrection of the Nova project from the late 70's and early 80's. I am curious to see what some of the more wise and distinguished (OLD) riders have to say and their thoughts on the possibility of HD bringing back this type of project to meet the upcoming EPA standards and possibly attract more customers.

I think they would stay with the Revolution engine before they'd bring the Nova back.

IMO, it's a step in the right direction. V-Twins have been surpassed by inlines in both power and efficiency. And after a few years, if it's not overpriced, and the bugs are worked out, I'd consider a bike with that engine, depending on the styling. Maybe they'll even use a shaft drive.

I think that they will more likely be leaning towards a revo style motor with big displacement...but then again I am an air cooled type of dude and will keep what I have as long as I don't wreck it and keep building on it for years and years until it turns to dust before riding a water cooled bike...but then again if they do bring them out and they don't suck I may end up riding one...wow, kinda said nothing here...LOL

I saw the article in Cycle World as well. Obviously Nova was designed for an entirely different era. I doubt much if any of that would carry forward 30 years. Undoubtedly one of the big reasons HD decided not to go forward with that engine then is that it is not a V-twin. If anything the V-twin has been reinforced since then as a Harley icon.

I've been disappointed up 'til now that Harley hasn't done more with the V-Rod engine. Presumably their marketeers know what they're doing. I for one, don't see the Revo engine spreading thoughout the product line. When and if liquid cooling becomes a necessity (HD still maintains that they can meet all current and proposed emissions with existing platforms) I think we'll see a modified TC engine, complete with fins, pushrods and a water jacket. I also suspect that they will find an alternate location for the radiator. A dresser opens up lots of possibilities for the creative mind.
