Aren't they the same folks who own the dealer in Rocklin? I heard they are going to host the state HOG party...Most of the stores closing at satalite stores or 2nd stores and these folks are doing so to try to keep their primary stores open.
I don't know about Auburn, but I know that Rocklin and Folsom are owned by the same folks. For some reason, I thought Auburn was a separate entity that was previously aligned with Hangtown HD in Placerville (also gone). I could be totally wrong about that, though.
With Auburn HD closing, I got screwed!!! I bought a new Heritage from them on Aug 1 2008 and at the time purchased a maintenance contract for service from 1000 miles through 10,000 miles. The contract was for five services and cost $981.34. I have only used one service, the 1000 mile. I was pushing 2500 miles, (my next service) in Jan. 09 when I had an accident at work and became paralized from a fall. After 4 months of recuperation and therapy I can walk and have ridden my bike twice. I called Auburn HD when I found out they had closed and left a message on the answering machine.I figured they owed me $785.12 for services not rendered. Guess what? So far no reply. I'll continue to try to get in touch with them. FYI Bob Holmes owned Auburn and Hangtown (Placerville) HD.

There is no 2500 mile service on Harleys. You next service is at 5000 miles. Selling you stuff you didn't need no wonder they went under.
You are right there is no 2,500 miles service or 7,500 miles service on a Harley. I didn't know that at the time of closing and the closer kept pushing the maintenance deal saying that in the future thier labor cost will go up. I bit that, hook line and sinker. My bad! But I still feel they owe me for services not rendered.
I really wish I had some disposable income right now. Back in the 70s a guy I knew was going to the dealerships that were closing and buying out all there flathead and knucklehead inventory. Fast forward 15 years and he was making a killing on those parts, plus all the local restorers knew where to get those hard to find pieces. Of course his basement was wall to wall parts bins, but what a deal!
I got plenty of disposable income. Problem is my OL is disposing of it all.

Sucks that your out the money, but on a brighter note, sounds like you are recovering somewhat. At least you can walk and ride again. Hope you fully recover!

It does suck that the poster is out his money, but it sounds like he was getting screwed either way. At least this way he hasn't wasted time having his bike serviced unnecessarily on top of paying all that money! Not much consolation, I can imagine. I wonder what 5 service visits they were telling him were necessary in the first 10K miles.
This is why I never buy maintenance contracts, etc. - you never know if the dealership is going to be around long enough to honor it.
