A friend of my wife and I was in a bad accident and was in a coma for three weeks. She is a 30 year experienced rider and a police officer. Unfortunately she got caught up in an accident with a pick up truck on her way home. She is now awake and getting better by the day.I pray for a complete recovery. My reason for posting is to encourage everyone to wear a good helmet and protective gear. She was wearing her pudin' bowl half helmet, and as little protection as it may be,I am sure it saved her life.I'll stick to my full face helmet and riding gear. It may not always help, but in most cases you will walk away.

I am a LEO, and work strictly accident reconstruction. Any brain bucket is better than none, and the more coverage, the better the protection. After 24 years at this gig, I can say that any accident victim that becomes alert and concious will likely end up with a decent recovery. It's that first 48 hours that I always sweat, and getting them back to an alert level. Once they get back to talking, then decide what kind of scoot they want to replace the old one with! Please give your amigo best wishes and a speedy recovery from this sarge in California!!
I hope you friend makes a full recovery. I wear a full face all the time, I do not care about cool points or how it looks. I was hit by a car in 1981 and had just bought my first full face that morning. I hit the front window post flat on the chin bar and it did not break so it only makes good sense to wear one.
i have a good friend who just bought a new big tire chopper and ask me to ride it and see what I thought, I showed up with my ff and he told me it would not look cool to be on his bike with that helment on so I have yet to ride it. he has a brain bucket and offered it to me..I am also fire fighter/emt and most crashes in our area are crotch rockets and these fools may ride like idiots but they wear good gear and many times it makes the difference in their outcome.
