Are you serious? Why you asking us? Just ride yer bones and be happy.
Yes, I'm seriously asking you. And the reason I'm asking is because I'm new to the Harley world and bikes in general. Never heard much about the Night Rod so I was simply asking a very broad question of what people think of them. No alterior motive here; just conversation.
did you test ride the bikes you thought you wanted? or better still, rent them to get some "real" saddle time?
IMHO, doing either of the above should have helped you pick the right bike....in retrospect.
P.S. I am predicting that you will end up in a bagger someday , maybe sooner
I didn't even have a permit at the time and when I saw that night rod it looked cool as hell, so I bought it. I was like a kid in a candy store. But, once I got my license I went back and rode a lot more and traded it off for the Bones. Impulse buying was probably the wrong decision on my first purchase.

Not quiet sure what exactly "the Harley world" means but one thing I will tell you about myself and many that I know is that we don't really care what other people think of what we ride or even why we ride at all. Conversely we really don't care about why others ride what they ride or why they ride....I think you get what I'm trying to say.
If you like it then it's a great experience If you don't then you need to do something to change it which is what it sounds like you did.
If you are happy with what you have now then I am happy for you.
Soo...Welcome the great world of Motorcycles and I hope you are having a blast on your new Bike.

If the Night Rod wasn't giving you the love, you did the right thing, give it a kiss, and send it down the road. If you are feeling the love with the Bones, you made the right move. After 33 years of scooter riding, I have come to the realization that it is an emotional thing, not logical, so don't try to talk yourself in or out of a thing, just go with the gut. I've probably spent over $100,000 on bikes in 33 years, but I haven't spent a dime at a therapist's office, good trade say I....
