Don't get me wrong, I'm with ya on what you commented. If it works for you, then fine. It doesn't (and didn't) work for me.

I know. I don't take things said on here personnally. Each of us have our own likes, dislikes, experiences. I guess I just don't do enough rain to justify spending the money. what's funny is, I'm not exactly known for being cheap. I've looked at raingear a bunch of times when at the dealer, jsut usually decided to buy something for the bike instead.

have a good one.

I got a 2 piece set of dryducks for $10 at Bass Pro Shop. I know you get what you pay for but it's windproof, waterproof, breathable and at that price disposable.

There has been a lot of good advice. I started out with a Wallyworld suit and it got me by for a year before it wore out. Then I came across a 20% sale and got my HD overpass suit and love it. I've had times ( two storms) that I wore it every day for a 80 mile round trip a week at a time. I learned to appreciate quality. I liked the HD suit because it had more Hiviz Orange and reflective mterial than any I could find.

There are a couple of levels to the Harley Raingear, went do to Tn. two weeks ago and got caught it very heavy rain in Va. I've got a Harley Rainsuit that I bought a couple of years ago don't know the model but it was about 200 bucks it worked great,1 of my friends has a cheaper Harley rain gear that they paid 100 bucks for, after about a 100 miles she's shaking her leg wildly,I was leading and thought she was trying to signal to the car behind her that they were following to close, turns out her rain pants were on fire and by shaking her leg it was just flaming the flame,it's pretty funny now but it scared the chit out of her at the time and it will give us a good story for the next couple of years

I have a two piece Eddie Bauer rain suit that I got at Target two years ago for about $30. Works fine for me but don't bump your pipes with your leg (don't ask how I know).

If you do go with Frogg Toggs, you can buy a heat shield for the pants:
http://www.froggtoggs.net/outerwear_product_line.html (scroll to bottom)

http://www.froggtoggsraingear.com/Heat%20Patches.htm (looks like 1 patch versus 2)

If you're really industrious...you can fabricate your own shield for about $6

Don't forget to use your "pinking shears"

Don't put 'em near your pipes either. I'll tell you how I know -- I'm still scraping bits of melted-on Frog Togs off the right leg of my chaps from two years ago.

I've had Frog Togs and I've had the Harley Overpass suit. I can tell you the Harley gear is better. It's made by riders for riders. It packs small -- I keep mine in a 2 liter stuff sack along with waterproof gloves.

Of course, for many years before that I just got wet when it rains. That works too.
