MEMPHIS,TN-Motorcycle Officer Russell Chaudoin is in the MED's Trauma center. Investigators say he was hurt while chasing a man that should have never been driving in the first place.
His fellow officers were by his bedside at the MED most of the day. Chaudoin suffered broken bones and other complications from the accident. Police say it all started when he tried to stop 40 year old Ronald Woods for a traffic citation. Woods fled in his white GMC pick-up the wrong way up the Sycamore View ramp onto the interstate. Woods made a maneuver forcing Chaudoin to collide into a Honda Civic.
The chase lasted about 7 minutes and ended near the Highway 64 exit. Officers moved in on Woods and the suspect rammed a squad car slightly injuring the officer inside.
Woods had already been labeled an habitual motor vehicle offender because of previous charges. Memphis police say he should not have been driving on the roads of Tennessee at all. He faces a number of new charges including DUI and Reckless Endangerment for Wednesday evening's chase.
this guy needs a nice long stay in prision instead of loosing his driving privliges. habitual is the key word and it usually ends up an innocent person gets killed or severly injured.[:@]
