I have the V&H straightshot HS slip ons. I liked the sound of the standard baffles. I"v since installed the quiet baffles about a week ago. I like the lower rumble sound, but I miss the loudness. Do the quiet baffles get that loud sound back after a few miles of burn in?
My experience is that, yes, after you burn them in some they will get louder. If you go easy on the throttle they'll rumble more than the standard baffle and won't get anywhere near obnoxious. If you grab a handful then, oh yeah, you'll be noticed. The main difference between the standard baffle and the quiet baffle is that the QB eliminates some of the high tone raspiness. Quieter? Not so much. Just different. They also provides a bit more back pressure which you might feel in the low to mid rev range. I've got almost 9k on mine and I'm still loving the sound.
