Couple of weeks ago we went on a memorial ride for a rider who got killed. First time ever riding in rain. So many good day's here don't go out when bad but left in clear skies then rode to rain. I was ok with it even though I didn't have a jacket with me(90 or so when we left). I was ok with the rain but quite honestly the first bolt of lightning made me shudder and look up. The second bolt got me thinking about it a lot more. Lightning is the only part that bothered me, except of course now the bike is wasted and will take hours to clean! Happy riding
Yep, nothing like riding in a thunder storm. Running 70 with less than 20 foot visibility, 30 to 40 mile an hour cross winds, shivering from the cold and all that voltage popping around you. Ahhhh life is good when you are an adrenaline junkie.
Didn't you post a while back about wanting to trailer your bike to Texas because there were showers in the forecast? Hehe.
By the way, sorry about the weather in the Hill Country while you were here. I thought about you and your lady while I stood in my garage doorway deciding to stay home.

Yep tx your right. We did trailer to Austin Saturday. Damn good thing because we ran through a couple of good ones. I thought I should add a little humor to the thread. I don't ride in thunder storms at all. Been caught up in 1 too many fishing off shore. If we ever get a chance to share a couple of cold ones, I have a thunder storm...fishing story that you won't believe.
The weather was great in Hill Country. We had only one shower to run thru on Sunday afternoon after leaving Lukenbach. The rest of the week was beautiful.

I was thinking about this site as I was riding over steel bridge as bolt of lightning were coming down all over. I could of take some good picture that day. As I ride my harley everyday at work the weather never stop what I am doing. We just move on. No trailer poser here.
Oh it's like monday there a two hurdred mile trip but it's going to rain. I will tell my boss I will not ride my scare or something like a pu__y or something.
I tell non riders all the time that while I would never choose to ride in the rain I've often gotten caught in a good downpour. We rode to Myrtle Beach Bike Week a couple of years ago. Had sunny weather all the way there but rode in the rain all the way back to Dallas. I once got caught in a tropical storm while on my way to Corpus Christi on the bike. Rain suits didn't help much that day. Worst weather I ever rode through was an unexpected early November sleet storm in the Texas Panhandle area. Was totally unprepared for freezing temps. Thought I was on my last ride for sure.
Two pair of rain on the bike at all times and that's for me if the first rain might leak. Rain gloves covers and rain covers for boots. plus a rag to wipe my fase off as I like to open my sheild alot.
I got a $3200 hail damage settlement for my pickup about 6 weeks ago. My grandson got $4600 for his car. What are you folks thinking?? Why would anybody who worries about small scratches on his ride risk riding into a storm that might have hail?

Sometimes ya' just gotta get where you're going.
Last year coming back from Little Sturgis wife and I got caught in a major storm. Traffic on the Interstate had slowed to a crawl. The wind was blowing, (we later found out gusts were over 70mph), us off the road. When we finally found an exit off the Interstate we were crossing running water axle deep.
It took us quite a while to get home from there but we made it. Soaked to the bone but made it.
Did I mention my wife was on her Deluxe? She's tough I tell ya'. Would follow me to the gates of hell and back if I asked.
That wasn't the first and I can almost guarantee you it will not be the last.
Fun? nah..but she put it best, "It's part of it". Take the good with the bad.
