I have two Harleys , a '99 883 c and an '04 softail standard , when the
wife wants to go for a ride I take the softail , when I want to "Play" I
take the sportster .
Hello new here and 1st post..I just bought my first HD and its a Sportster XL883L. I have had it for 6 weeks and have put 1400 miles on it. Since buying it I have heard from others that the Sportster is considered to be a girls bike..Is this TRUE???????
after posting this, I see I was beaten to the punch..
I think you might hear this more among non-Harley riders. Motorcycle Cruiser magazine reviewed some of the sub-1000cc baby baggers (883L, V-Star 950, Triumph, Kawasaki) and one of the reviewers said:
"The Harley is way too expensive. It's pretty much unfair to even review the bike since it is obviously made for little girls. No man over 110 pounds should ride this. A scooter might be a better option." The link is below. The comments are on page four.
I think that line of thinking is complete and total crap, as does the vast majority of this board as evidenced by the "Ugh...not this again" attitude in this thread.
I'm enjoying the hell outta my 883L and not a single person has turned thier nose up or made a snide comment. Ride it and have fun and to hell with the haters!
Everybody seems to forget the FLs were 1200cc not all that long ago and that was plenty of motor and you didnt see alot of girls ridin back then like you do today.
Yeah I was told that also, course my buddy has a streetbob, But he like riding MY BIKE.
Forget what other people say about your sportster. You did buy it to enjoy, or did you buy it for everyone else to enjoy??
