Default Cig Lighter socket?

CORRECTION to my original post -- it's a J&P Cycles item, link below...

OK, that's weird... I posted a msg, saw an error, reposted with correction, now the original disappeared(?)

Anyway, I was talking recently with some buddies about taking a road trip next month, and one guy just went on and on about how I should take an inflatable mattress and 12V air pump. He has a cigarette lighter socket strapped to the frame, kinda sloppy-looking setup (but it obviously meets his needs).

I was interested enough to do some checking and found the unit a J&P Cycles. Not sure just where I would mount it on the Deluxe, but would use it for occasional GPS, cell-phone charger, air pump, etc. I'm always leery of cutting into the wiring harness, this just has one-wire connection to battery.

Anybody use similar add-on unit?

You can get a weatherproof one from WalMart or AutoZone for around $20.00 but they have a zytel or some other synthetic housing. They are black and would be easy to hide. I do like the look of the J & P unit, but that seemes a little high for a lighter socket.

For no more than I expect to use it, that's certainly the simplest solution I've seen so far -- and for less than $20(!) Has the added benefit of making use of what's already there (tender connection) without any more putzing around with the wiring haress.

I've been using this one http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...fCatId=&mmyId=
I mounted it on the stud used for the horn and ran the wires under the tank with an inline fuse directly to the battery.
