I have an '05 Ultra Classic. When the ambient temperature gets hot, I am hearing a whirring noise, sounds like it's coming from the front end. Only when it's really hot outside (above 90 degrees) and I've been riding for 10-15 miles. I have taken it to the dealer and they of course told me I'd have to leave it so they could try to replicate the noise. I haven't done that yet. When I inspect the front brakes, I see that the pads are sitting on the rotor with not even a spec of space between. The rear doesn't look that way. Any suggestions?
It's pretty common to have noise from the front brakes. Some call it a squeel and some hear it as a "swooshing" sound. The pads normally touch the rotors on mine to. IF that's whats causing it the techs should be able to run it down the road and verify it. The only "fix" I have heard is floating rotors and aftermarket pads. Everything else is temporary.

I'm used to a little noise from the front end, but this is downright loud.
If your sure it's not brake related I think you might want to, atleast, insist on an evaluation before you keep riding it. After you KNOW what it is you can decide on the best time and place to fix it.

I think it is brake related, but still plan to have HD evaluate it to make sure and fix whatever it is...
