left this morn around 6 for a ride, on the way home about 11 in afternoon im tooling home and 3 deer come out of the woods right in front of me. im a avid bowhunter so i should have known that sometimes deer are still heading to beding areas at these times still. folks i could have reached out and touched 2 of them with my hand, had to tag brakes harder than i would have liked. scared the you know what out of me for a second.
Two guys that I work with hit deer in the same week last month. One just had bumps and a couple bruises. The other has major head injuries and has now been moved to a long term care facility. I feel that for the most part, I am a rational individual, however this kind of thing really pisses me off. The odds of these incidents could be greatly reduced if politicians do what they are supposed to do. They need to reduce the deer population plain and simple. But again, as with most things these days, they are only concerned about special interest groups what those whiny asses cry about. Inconvenience the masses over the whims of the few. No common sense or decency.
You definitely need to be careful and watch out for yourself. Damn straight nobody else is.
Deer are definately a problem here where I live... they are like rabbits around here!! Rifle hunting is banned and you have to use bow, shotgun or pistol. Turkeys are another and they can have deadly consequences to some one on two wheels. We have hundreds of turkey here!
I don't know what it is, but we're seeing alot more bears these days, up here in N Central PA. Between deer & bears, 8:30 or 9:00 is a good time to be off the bike for the day! I'm actually more worried about the animals up here, than I am other drivers.
