Last September I rode from northern California to Bryce Canyon in Utah. From Barstow, Ca through Las Vegas until I got to St. George, UT the temperature was 114 degrees. Even stopping for water frequently and dousing myself didn't change the fact that it was hotter than "h***"!

My brother and I rode southern MO for about 1K in a heat wave last week. Rather ride in that than the cold any day. Good call on the tree canopy.

I've ridden in 115 degree temps down in the Big Bend area, and even tho it is a "dry heat", as Bad Bob sez, it's like riding thru a blast furnace. The HI here is around 105 and I decided to stay inside with the a/c today. I may go out in a little while after it cools down.

And when it's like that it sucks all the moisture out of your body too. People forget to drink water when it's nasty like that. Have heard of people getting heat stroke on long rides and hot weather. NO FUN!

Yep, and most people won't even realize it until it's too late. Riding along, your sweat dries up pretty fast.
