Deer are a constant danger everywhere I go,year round it seems. Most of my riding is 2 lane country roads where human population is less dense, but the deer are a plenty. All I can do is keep my eyes peeled for them.Don't do much nite riding anyway.I like to see everything going on near and far from me.So far,so good...
Here in Pennsylvania,we've got huge numbers of deer.I'm not sure of the hunting laws here, but I think hunting should be allowed year round.Kill as many as you can.Stock your freezers up boys!
Riding out in Oregon July 3rd around 5pm. I saw a deer little one and so I slowed way down and then next thing I know three others popped up and went crazy. but they are cleared out. I was going like 20mph by the time I got to them and they cleared out. but it kept me on edge for the rest of the trip.
PA hunting law is so messed up that there are at least 3 deer out there for every biker. 1 for buck season (as long as it has 4 points to 1 antler now), 1 for doe (as long as you have a doe tag) and 1 to hit with your bike.

"There's a **** load of deer out there this year, but you can't shoot them"
speaking of deer has anyone tried those deer whistles on their bike and if so does anyone actually know if they work
The whistles sure didn't work for me. Hit a deer a few years ago after having them on my car for about a week. I kid you not! These guys are right ---- they can be anywhere at anytime. Been lucky on my bike. In my car though ---- you're suppoed to have a hunting license in PA to kill as many deer as I have, and not 1 of them was at dawn or dusk. 2 pm, 4pm, 10 pm, etc ---- anywhere at anytime. 40 mph on the 2-lanes after dark, around here! Better yet, be parked before 9!
got the deer horns on the bottom of my frame, air has to go all the way thru the horn to work, so nothing behind them. ill also just blow my horn when riding at night in the boonies. ive never seen a deer when on the bike [knock on wood] so maybe this works. blow the horn every half mile or so when in real dessalete areas, cant hurt.

speaking of deer has anyone tried those deer whistles on their bike and if so does anyone actually know if they work
I don't know if there are any certified surveys or studies on their effectiveness. I've seen cars that have hit deer and the deer whistles mounted on the front are all full of deer hair. I think they give people a false sense of security. We can't let our guard down when riding even if you have the whistles. I know they don't like my pipes if I pull my clutch and give it a rev. Other thing is we need to be vigilant for other deer following the first that cross including the new little bambi's...
