When I bought a new digital camera for the Alaska Highway ride, the instructions included the warning not to use it while riding a motorcycle. I thought who would do such a thing.
Then when my two sons and I were in the Northern Rockies on the Alaska Highway, my oldest son slowed a little ahead of me and then I saw him taking pictures with his camera. I had a little talk with him at the next stop.
I've riden with a guy who will come up along side the group with his bike on cruise control. He has both hands on his camera, turned sideways taking pictures of us as he passes us. This guy can really handle a bike, but I've always wondered if one day he'll take his last picture... while on his bike. Not worth it...
Sad story, sorry to hear and sympathy to the family. I enjoyed reading the blog of his great journey and viewing the pictures. We've all done risky things in our days and unfortunately sometimes we have to pay the price.
personally, i've taken thousands of pictures over thousands of miles... learned a thing or two along the way... like the final lesson for him, don't try and take pictures in a turn... especially a turn that you can't see around... you never know what may be crossing or laying in the road.
