An old friend of mine had her 2007 Heritage stolen on 07/09/09 (last Thursday). It was parked in front of a Doctor's office in Indianapolis. It is Burgundy and Cream, and has crash bars front and rear, with a Lighted-eye Eagle head on the front fender. I don't have the VIN yet, but for what it's worth, ANY help would be greatly appreciated. She already lost her husband (also my good friend) a couple years ago and was still riding.
If this thing isn't in a million pieces yet, or someone sees parts with this paint anywhere, please PM me. The rest of you in Indy, watch out for your stuff.
There's only so many places to hide it on a bike and it's one of the first things professional thieves look to disconnect when taking a vehicle.
Had Lowjack on a Porsche years ago that was stolen out of an underground garage. I have the video tape of them doing it. They targeted my car. Took all of 2 minutes. Cops said Lowjack is worthless in metropolitan areas. At least I got my money back from Lowjack.
She has insurance, but only wants her bike back. She is 67-ish, and must weigh about 110 pounds, but I've ridden cross country with her at least twice. She wouldn't wish harm on anyone.
I hate bike thieves and I am sorry that this happened to her but odds are it is long gone. She needs to get another bike and continue on with life. Hopefully she gets her bike back or justice and retribution but long odds.
This brings up a good question. I have had my 2009 Road King Classic 6 weeks today. It came preinstalled with security, the Key FOB that is needed for it to start.
Next month I will be staying at a hotel for 3 nights and, if I take my bike, it will be parked in the parking garage the whole time. Is locking the ignitian, and steering, as well as the security FOB adequet enough, or can it still get stolen?
