Like Donna, my wife has a small leather "fanny pack" style bag that clips on to her belt loops. It uses the dog-leash style connectors so it's robust enough for regular use.
There's a couple other ladies that we ride with pretty regular that use them too.
She got it in the tiki-hut at the local Harley shop. I think it was about 30-35 bucks.
Big enough for small phone, wallet, hair thingies, smokes if you need 'em, and other things that the girls need to have...Small enough to look decent and not be in the way.

Something like a nice black leather fannypack, but I don't want a bunch of compartments. I wanna keep it nice and simple.
Any ideas or suggestions about what you use?
Laugh it up everyone, because unlike a lot of you, I don't give a **** about what other people think. I use or wear what I want and don't have to ask permission. Some of you seem to think you have to conform to a certain biker "uniform", which is a sure sign of weakness.......Muahahaha!
All I care about is whether the item does the job that I want it to.
awesome that you don't care what other people think, but c'mon, a purse? really?
if you do decide to go that route, you're gonna have to get several to make sure that it goes with the rest of your outfit that day
dunno... carry my .40 in my right boot, my throwin knife in my left boot, jeans hold everything else.... gps never carried one! Maybe a vest of some sort, leather or jean material with pockets might help.... pssssst... biker lookin type!!!
...And when you need it, it takes you 15 minutes to get at them. Bang, you're dead.
As for the vest:+1. I took an old denim jacket and just cut off the sleeves and the collar. I did that mostly because i used to suish my cigarettes in my pants. With the vest, I have rapid access (red light) and more pockets to put my stuff in.
My wife hates that thing, but to me it's a function over fashion thing.
As for a longer ride, I have a funny pack that I wrap around my left thigh. I keep a can of coke there, and some more stuff. When I sit on the bike, it's just fine. When I get off, I have to take it off, cause it slides down my leg.
