Went out for a decent ride today solo, about 120 miles or so. Nice ride until about 20 miles from home I was crusing along at somewhere between 65-70 mph on a sort-of backroads kind of highway. There was a road off to the right and a car (or maybe it was a truck) was stopped at the stop sign waiting for a chance to pull out onto the road I was on. I don't remember any of the details (happened too fast) of types of car/truck or whatever but what I do remember was that as I was approaching the side-street, a small black car (something like a Honda Prelude or Accord) started to pull out into my path. I think it came from behind the other car that was sitting there waiting. Apparently they did not see me coming and started to pull out. The second I saw the car coming out I leaned HARD to the left to swerve out of my lane. The person driving the car apparently saw me and slammed on brakes but he/she was already 70-80% into my lane. I crossed the double yellow and blew by without slowing down, clearing the front bumper of that car by 3-4 feet at most. If I was the kind of person to lose control of my "facilities" in a panic moment then I'd have ruined the pants I was wearing. Holy crap that was CLOSE. For a few seconds I thought about pulling over and taking a few deep breaths but then I just kinda got over the whole thing and continued on my way. Be careful out there. It's only a matter of time...
Glad to hear you're still in one piece. We all have our moments like this and hopefully we all manage to avoid it, but unfortunately some don't. This kinda stuff really pisses me off when people don't pay attention.............

You have an excellent attitude about stuff like this. No sense in getting pissed off, just get over it quickly, learn a lesson or two, and be grateful that you are going to live to ride another day.
