Jim, you know what? I have ridden many makes of motorcycles, including Hondas and I ain't got a bad thing to say about any of them. We ride Harley's because we like them. I'd own a Honda in a heartbeat if I could afford more than one motorcycle. I'd have, if I had my druthers, the following stable... (not in this order)
Honda VRF 800
Triumph Thruxton
Ducati Monster 1100s
1965 Electraglide
2010 Fat Bob
2010 Road King
Vincent Black Shadow
ANY Knucklehead in good condition
SuckerPunch Sally's Sled
and a late 70's Kawasaki KZ1000 all tricked out and cafe racered up...
uh... and LOTS more...
I adored my GPz305 and my XJ900F (and the two XJ900S) proved themselves to be brilliantly reliable, easy to maintain and good to go around the clocks. My Tiger900 (the original boxy one) was like a grown-up's Tonka toy and took me around Europe in style, three times.
Now, I just so happen to like my Ultra more than any previous bike...but that won't stop me getting a second and a third bike - one will be for green laning (a Honda XL600 tops my want list) and the other is going to be a midweight commuter/wife bike (in all probability a CB500 or an ER5).
I don't understand slagging off marques, to me it just displays ignorance being worn like a badge of pride.
