Hey DAWG, there are alot of mesh jackets with armor protection in the back, elbows and shoulders....Cortech, Tour Master, etc. that don't look like a RoboCop costume.
you may wish to consider:
There are some jackets available with-out logos or signage that have CE or similar armor that would be discreet. shoulders/elbows and back.
And you could wear to lunch/dinner and not look 100% motorcycle.
The picture shown of item would have to be worn under a long sleeve button type shirt (jean shirt?) in order to be less noticeable. But it could be worn with any jacket.
The draw back I see with such an item is that you can not remove it easily if you get hot or if you will be off the bike for an hour or two and then return to bike.
But then again i have not seen any street/cruiser jackets with a chest plate.
Its all a comfort/safety/enjoyment balance and each person has their own needs.
Hope you locate what you need.
Enjoy your ride.
You gotta wear that on a Ninja or Katana, it's only fitting.
Anyway, back to the OP.
Try looking at this, Tour Master Intake Air mesh jacket, with a seperate waterproof liner and a thermal liner. You could wear this jacket in most weather hot or cold. New Enough is a great site for real riding gear. http://www.newenough.com/protective_...le_jacket.html

What helmet, pants and gloves are you planning on wearing with that? And will you be wearing it off the bike, like in biker bars?
We need to make this discussion thorough before we arrive at a conclusive recommendation.

OK.... I have riding with only T-short, and shorts or Jeans with a pair of sneakers. I think my luck will eventually run out. Time to think about protection before it is too late.
I am thinking a coast to coast solo trip, want to get some logistics in place.

Tour master has some good stuff, it is a viable solution. Thanks.
