I have a similar drive up here in the north ga mountains. but i have lots of riding experience mostley in flat florida. when we moved, i had the bike stored temporarly at a friends house and had to waite on the weather, rain and cold. I decided after 2 days that i wanted my fatboy home and so following my wife in her car I rode through the misty rain with temp around 40, wow was it cold for a floridian. than down my gravel road for a couple of hundred yards and up my gravel drive ,,,, no problem. then later down the drive which is on a moderate hill. just remember no front brake and take it easy. not a problem a year later... good luck ..jim
She came to my doorstep on a brisk spring day threatening rain. The 4-wheel drive pickup pulling a covered trailer with the familiar HD ICON came up the steep lane. She crested the hill and swung into the yard. The delivery dude backed her up to the garage, dropped the tailgate revealing the backend of the most beautiful site I have seen since my first child was born. There she was the black beast...the 06 Softtail Heritage Classic. Covered in black and chrome. The delivery dude backed her out of the delivery stall and settled her into her new bed in our garage. I spent many a night sitting on her, rubbing my hands all over her and gazing at her. Many days passed as I fretted over the loaming steep, loose graveled downhill lane with a short landing onto a busy state highway that I needed to traverse to unleast the beast. Well, a buddy showed up this morning and wanted to ride (knowing I needed the nudge)...me on the beast and he riding a 1000cc 83 Metric. Well, after many trial runs I finally got up the courage to make the run (you must remember from my former posts that I have not been on a bike since the early 70s and it was only a 650 Triumph). Once I decided to go over the edge it was all downhill from there. I made the highway and did not even come close to the far side ditch. WOW!!! What an experience. It was suppose to be a short trek into town and back...well, after 140 miles and a major sunburn we decided to climb back up the hill to a waiting garage, pics and a few cold ones.
I hope this little ditty did not bore you but it was a major rush for me... Pics to come.

I think I just creamed my shorts... and shed a slight tear.
