Default primary oil change help please.

I'm changing my primary fluid for the first and the manual says 26 ounces. However 26 oz. doesnt bring the level up to the bottom of the clutch diaphram. I've got a quart in there now and still not full. Help please? It's a great day and I want to get back on the road.
Thanks.

05 S.E. Fatboy. Thanks for the reply. My manual's not S.E. specific.

With my limited knowledge on the subject I would assume the oil level should be like you said....

I just put the 26 oz's the manual calls for. I have never had a problem.

Fill it until it touches the bottom of your clutch diaphragm spring. The 26 oz. figure you referred to is an approximation.

The fluid levels are not an approximation, you need to stick to what the manual calls for. Your finger is NOT a calibrated dip stick for checking fluid levels. If you overfill the primary case the clutch will give you problems and not work correctly. If it says 26oz, put in exactly that, no more no less. Most fluid containers you buy have a volume window on the side of the plastic container so you can make sure you get the correct amount in whatever you're filling, use it..

Then what's the point of this site if we just Google everything and look elsewhere?
