Default Headlight adjustment

I have a shop manual and fully understand how to adjust the headlight but, when I adjusted it to the specs in the book, my low beam only show about 30 feet in front of me., anything beyond that is totally dark. I can see about 50 feet out with the high beam on. With the low beam and the spots on it is like daylight. I have to turn on the high beam to keep from being flashed by oncomming traffic.I am assuming that the spots are to high. Does anybody have any suggestions on how they have there lights set up. It is a 02 Electra Glide and I changed out all the lights up front to clear lens with reflectors like the 05's and newer have. Thanks

Hi Clap

Had the same problem myself and the best way is to find a deserted road at night and press gang one of your mates to go with you then get him to sit on the bike while you adjust the lights to give the best forward illumination.

The book gives you measurements and all sorts of crap but this way worked for me

I did it at home against a wall (evening). Saw where the light was hitting (wife was sitting on bike), then raised it a bit. Took a road test that night and found it was aimed to the left a bit. Repeated procedure and moved it to the right and down just a tad. Seems my low bothers the sub-compacts in front of me. Seems fine to me after that.

Before my adjustment my lights were crap!!! the high seemed where the low should be and the low was like 15ft in front of me, not good.

I have my spots adjusted to shine to each side of the hot spot of the low beam of the headlight. I also have the clear lens spots, and Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. I do not get flashed, but I get lots of light. The only thing different is that I have a Honda (shh) clear lens headlight unit. I think the pattern is a bit different than the HD.

Just as PWHOG, I use the road in front of my house. I set the high beam to hit the road where it should be. That usually puts the low beam where you need it.

Once I had them set. I pulled into the Harley shack and with the Low Rider level, I mark where it hits on the wall.
