My wife and I were riding Sunday with a friend of ours. He rides a Road King. We were on a 4 lane road in the Delta of MS and I see what looked like a bike with double headlights coming up from behind. i thought to my self it must be one of those crotch rockets gonna strut his stuff and blow by us. Well I decide I would just ignore it and go along minding my own business. I am watching my friend in front and catch a glimpse of something out of my left eye and a "teet teet" sound. I couldn't help but look over and this guy on one of those Yamaha Scooters is blowing my doors off. We were running about 70 and this thing just whooshes by us. I look in my mirror and my wife is laughing her butt off. I slow down and let her pull up beside me and we both have a good laugh. I then pick up my speed and pull up beside my friend and ask him what in the hell does he mean letting us get blown away by a scooter. he looks at me and says, hell he didn't want to mess with him, cuz he might outrun us. This thing with the small wheels that had to be running 400MPH went on out of sight.
Had one pass me last year. Dude had a ear to ear bug eating grin. We let him have his moment. If I had twisted the wick he couldn't hang but I was in a good mood that day.
Don't knock'em until you try one. I have a Yamaha Majesty in addition to my 883 ( my wife rides it now) and my wife and I have toured on that thing. It's got a 400CC single, enough underseat storage for 2 people for 2 days clothes, great weather protection, good seat and the best headlights I've ever seen on a motorcycle. 0-60, it'll give the 883 a run for it's money and it'll roll along at 70mph 2 up all day. They aren't a Harley no how, but I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a thousand mile trip either. Wait? we DID take it on a thousand mile trip!
