Belive me one bike is just not enough 05 Springer Classic for road trips, 87 chopper for just becouse and a Honda XR650L for when I need to go off road.

I dont know your financial situation, but if it were me, I would keep the harley. You may not have the opportunity to ever purchase one again.

I'd still sell the wife.....a hottie girlfriend or two could cover the bills for a while!

ASPHALT IS FOR WOMEN!! REAL MEN RIDE IN THE DIRT!!!
dirtbikes rock!! Gas Gas 300 is my main ride. Riding in the dirt will make you a better road rider. Keep both if you can. If you can only have one bike tho. Give some hard thought to which kind of riding gives you the most joy. If the harley is cool but you really dig the dirt, fess up and get a bigger dual sport. I'd suggest a used DRZ 400 S, or kawi KLR 650. Kawi is much better for two up duty. But will be a handfull on a real trail. The 400 S will fine in real woods but not so good in real technical wood riding. If you really dig your time on the hd and the dr is just a fun diversion, hd it is. Don't get hung up on the bike. It's all about the ride. Which bike gives you the biggest smile when riding. When you get home from riding which bike makes you feel the best. I can live with out a bike for asphalt, but if i don't get my dirt fix life get pretty miserable.

thanks for all the HONEST replies guys (except for the one about selling the wife, lol) I thought I'd get hammered just because I wasn't die-hard HARLEY.... but I tell you... I honestly don't think I can live without both (not a wife AND a girlfriend) I mean a dirtbike and a Harley.

I LOVE riding around the back roads and looking for trails to hit, dirtpits, the beach, cutting across fields, construction sites, etc....
but I ALSO LOVE those long days of touring some good hang-outs with the buds, and there's no way that little dirtbike could keep up or not let my butt and hands go numb... the Harley is more comfortable to drive, nice seat, throttle lock, doesn't get blown around on the road, can cruise at any speed, looks and sounds good too. I do have a couple of female friends that love to ride... I know they like hopping on the back of the Harley, but snicker and joke when I pull up on the dirtbike....

Try to find one of the old enduro/dirt bikes made in the mid 70's. I think it was called a XR750, not sure. I remember they had twin carbs. That would solve the problem, a Harley dirt bike! I imagine if you could find one in good working order, though i, it wouldn't be real cheap.

Dude you probably can't. If it means taking food off the plate thats one thing. But the $$ you get for selling it won't change your world. So....

Keep the DR, keep the Sportie for now, and when you want a bigger bike, sell the sportie and trade up for a twin cam!

I been playing in the dirt since i was 8....30yrs now....it does make you a better street rider. And I know i couldn't part w/ my vintage KDX175s...thinking about it now, its prob time for a tear down and rebuild!...

good luck!!! and keep riding; dirt AND street!

HAHAHA - Was thinking the same thing Bruce! Check out Delaware 1200's last 50 posts - It reads like the booth section in a video store

Dude - Keep both - A beater bike is a great idea and whatever money ya got for it could be made on the side with some effort - Tell her let you keep it and you owe her one - Good luck!

For the record, i know a dirt rider who used his sportie to lay out most of the non technical dirt sections of a 120 mile dualsport ride in maine! Maybe you could put some dual sport tires on your sportie???

Actually if your making payments you might look at what a payment would be for the Buell Ullysess. You could trade two payments on two bikes for one payment on one bike. Might work for ya.
