installed new quick release windshield on friends 05 wide glide instructions say you must relocate front turn signals .dont see the point as windshield does not affect turn signals when activated was wondering if this was a d.o.t thing thanks
The running lights will put a orange glow on the back of the windshield that will make it impossible to see through the windshield at night. If the headlight does not extend past it that might get you as well.
I modified the mounting bar on my Low Rider to bring the headlight down 1" and forward 1". This allowed me to bring the windshield down till it almost touched the headlight.
Relocating the turn signals puts them down and infront of the windshield. Don't get caught at night until you do.
^^ What he said! I didnt relocate mine and it sucked! Then when I did relocate them the screen was catching some of the headlight so I installed a trim ring extension all better now.

Ain't it great being able to learn from others mistakes!

I have a '06 WG. I travel 90 mi round trip 60-80 mph every day.
Tried the HD mid size quick release; it didn't block much wind, or rocks, or bugs.
Tried the HD tall size quick release; right height, too narrow, wrong angle, like they said way too much turn signal light; PLUS it put all the wind on my head shaking my eyeballs and brain loose. Wow.
Still want a windshield. Looking for recommendations. Maybe some kind of shortie, but hard to find for an '06.

Damn, I don't reckon I would have considered that...at least until it was 10pm and I was trying to ride home.
I have the quick release shield for my '04 WG. Leave it off most of the time, but when on and riding at night, I have no issues with the unrelocated turn signals creating an orange glow one can't see through. No sweat. Easy. Don't know what the big deal is. Give it a try before relocating.
